Massage Types Deep tissue - An intense, sustained and slow pressure used to achieve a deep level of muscle relaxation Swedish - The basic strokes of relaxation massage, used primarily to warm up the muscle tissue Neuromuscular therapy - Precise treatment used to release stress and trigger points in specific muscles, enabling profound tension/pain relief Reflexology - Viewing the feet as a mirror image of the body, it is the application of pressure, stretch, and movement to the feet to effect corresponding parts of the body Hot Stone – this nurturing therapy is becoming widely known for its deeply relaxing benefits. It employs a technique that uses smooth heated basalt stones which are placed on different points throughout the body to melt away knots, tension and stress. The smaller stones are also used in the actual massage with aromatherapy oils. The hot stone experience relieves pain and promotes balance, harmony and peace. Injury treatment - Using massage techniques to help heal soft tissue (muscle) damage due to car accidents, accidents, sport related injury, etc. Polarity Therapy - In the Polarity model, health is experienced when energy systems function in their natural state; energy flows smoothly without significant blockage or fixation. When energy is unbalanced, blocked or fixed due to stress or other factors, pain and disease arise. Polarity Therapy seeks to find the blockages and release energy to normal flow patterns. The typical Polarity session doesn't require disrobing. Touch contact may be light, medium or firm. In the session, the practitioner supports the client in increasing self-awareness of subtle energetic sensations, which are often experienced as tingling, warmth, expansion or wavelike movement. The results of Polarity Therapy sessions vary, and may include profound relaxation, new insight into energetic patterns and their implications, and relief from numerous specific problematic situations. |
